I've been towing a 04 Jeep Liberty for about a year now. Recently thinking of trading in the Liberty for something newer. I do love the fact I don't have to do anything to tow the Jeep except put it in neutral and go. The 09 Jeeps are still a little pricey. Looking at 08 Jeeps.

We do need the 4x4 to get up to our Mountain Cabin.

What do you tow?

gatordog, we tow an 05 dakota laramie 4dr. 4x4.
this is our second dakota first was oo we really like ours. it has 3.73 gears, skid plates for off road, 4 doors for company and is still a truck for other uses. fuel economy around town is bad 12 mpg. highway is good 20 mpg. good luck! as there's a lot of choices out there. jim

We tow a 2003 Honda CRV or a 2008 Ford Ranger (4x4) if we want to take the Harley along. Its great to have so many choices in toads today.

Hi GatorDog,
My primary toad is an 05 GMC ENVOY XUV 4X4. It is 5200 lbs street weight and has a long wheel base. This makes it a CADDY like ride with a truck capability. The ENVOY is heavy duty everything.

We tow a Jeep Grand Cherokee and love it. This is our second, and we saved about 20-25 percent by buying a used one to tow. Got the same quality, less depreciation. I don't think I will ever pay for a new car and absorb the down side as soon as I drive it off the lot again.

Try an H3 Hummer. Nice ride, 07/08 are easy tow. Great toads whether traveling on Interstate or back country. Prices are favorable on the used and are deeply discounted new. I get 15-20 mpg.

We tow either an 06 CR-V 4wd or an 01 Ranger Edge with the Harley in the bed. Milage is over 25 mpg on the Honda and right at 22 mpg with the Ranger, the HD gets 46 mpg

'07 Chevy HHR. 23-30 mpg. Tows great. Seats sit high up (easy entry and exit) and plenty of room for the dog in the back.

2006 Jeep Liberty Ltd.

We chose it for a combination of weight, 4-down towing, & one of a very few suv's that were towable w/auto trans, had no speed/distance limits & had decent mpg numbers all in a vehicle my DH fit into.

If ya like the Liberty, why not stay with it? No need to get a pricey 09 when there are 08's still around or even gently used 07's out there.

99 Chevy Silverado 4X4 long bed or 06 Saturn Vue, depending on what we are going to be doing when we get there.
