Newmar made some mid engined diesel rigs that had a garage in the back that was large enough to accommodate a Smart car. They also made them with double slideouts so you could load two motorcycles, others had a stacked bed arrangement. They were called "Allstars", Here's a link to the 2007 brochure: http://www.newmarcorp.com/wp-content...mebrochure.pdf

Just purchased 2011 Ody and wondered if your battery goes dead?We have a brake buddy that runs off toad. Also why do you repeat the start process every 200-300 miles?

Perhaps I need to run 12v line from MH to toad battery.

Sorry for the confusion was replying to post #51 - and did not copy his post which stated he also pulled a Chrysler Town & Country with a 1 qt tank with 1 extra qt of trans fluid, only he installed valves on his tank.

In the future will copy the post before replying.

I'm pulling a tow dolly under a Chrysler Grand Caravan. After over 11,000 miles we're are very happy with our decision. We didn't have a choice because we already had the car when the MH came along and it was the cheapest solution.

I'm pretty sure there is an Outlaw owner who puts one in the back of their rig.

Used to tow a 2003 Jeep Liberty. Heavy, inefficient. Had it for 10 years. Survived two gas rigs, Class C and an A.
Just got a 2015 Fiat 500 Pop stick shift. Put baseplate on last night. We now have diesel pusher. Go figure.

Don't know why everyone doesn't have a garage
The AllStar's were awesome (but discontinued), and sadly the Canyon Star Toy Hauler's don't seem to have the available GVWR for the almost 1,900lb Smart.

Safe travels

Cool. Are those the defunct mid engine diesels?

That's the issue that most toy haulers are Ford gassers and can't Hadley the garage weight. I also have no desire to go back down the food chain to a gasser.

These photos are both Outlaw's - 2500lb rating in the garage. I'm not touching the "Gas vs. Diesel" topic.

The top photo (I believe) is the Front Engine Diesel (FRED) Freightliner (air brakes, air suspension, 6.7L ISB/Allison, etc., reportedly sold until about late 2010).
The bottom is the gasser (there were 2 - Ford and Workhorse) now available on the 26,000lb GVWR Gas.

And there were others too, see the sticky here:
Class "A" Toyhaulers

We tow our '05 Ody four down. Did finally run a charge line from the RV to the Ody to keep the battery charged.

What do you tow? Would you do again?

My idea was an air bagged, diesel pusher with a garage.

I flat tow a 2014 Subaru Outback. We've only done a few trips, but it's perfect for us. Roomy inside, no special considerations (e.g. fuse pull), AWD, and plenty of cargo storage.

There is a logistical issue with a pusher and a garage...

Well we just tow our 05 pt vert but working the Sun-N-Fun in Lakeland, FL I ran across this. Thought that pretty much covered it.
