2014 Edge FWD four down, roadmaster sterling, AF1. I found it better to disconnect the battery rather than a charge wire because the odometer is still counting with battery connected. Yes I would do this again, car tows great and is a great vehicle to tour in.

2011 Jeep Liberty 4 down, put transfer case in neutral and shift into park. Key off as the Jeep does not have steering wheel lock. Have had no problem and will continue to tow Jeep. Most towed vehicles I have seen are Jeep, found ours at Car Max. Good people to deal with, make sure it is 4WD with a transfer case you can shift into neutral, manual or electronic.

It depends on what our plans are when we get there. The 2003 Wrangler Rubicon is for off-roading. Example: Silverton Co. It doesn't carry much and the DW needs a stool to get in. We tow the 2006 Jeep Commander the rest of the time. It rides nice, carries the kayaks on top, the bikes on the rear and the golf clubs inside. Both are easy and quick to hook up.

A Lexus IS250C or Toyota Prius, inside an enclosed trailer. Along with bikes, a canoe, various supplies.

Why I didn' make this transition years ago, I don't know.

Finally, I can back up!

What do you do with trailer when parked for extended time? I would imagine you do mostly pull throughs.

Currently towing a '14 Chevy Sonic... tows very well, and at 2,700 lbs, you certainly can't tell it's back there. Looking at going to a Dodge Durango, but you have to get the V-8 to get the required 2-speed transfer case for flat towing.

Another Jeep Wrangler (4 door) here. We had the Jeep before we started RVing, so it was a natural choice of toad. Would I do it again? Yes if I had a Wrangler already. If I were buying a toad outright, I might consider a 4 door F150 instead due to the more comfy ride and extended storage/transport possibilities (firewood, lawn chairs) in the back of the truck.

2013 Ford Edge with a Ready-Brute-Elite. Simple to connect and disconnect. Integrated surge brake. Only problem is the battery will go down after 8 hours of towing. Simple solution is carry a battery boost box or drive less hours.

Glad I gave up the dolly!!!

We have towed our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee for almost 15 years and close to 50,000 miles with no problems. The wife finally agreed to use her 2013 Lincoln MKX as our toad and give the jeep to one of the grandkids. I have read of several folks using the MKX and hope it is as easy as the jeep but the battery going dead may be a bit of an issue, never was with the Jeep though.

I am also a little concerned about using CW as the installer for the new tow plate on the Lincoln. Plate is ordered but will probably be a week or so before it arrives and we get it installed.

I tow a 2010 4WD Ford Escape all 4 wheels down. Been towing it since June 2010 with no problems, this includes four trips from Massachusetts to Key West, FL. and back every year. It also gets towed to Cape Cod quite often in the summer.
