"ekim".....I did a driveshaft disconnect on a Nissan Frontier. Since they hadn't made any for that model, the kit for attaching the mechanism really didn't fit well. They sent me another kit and between the two, I made a bracket that worked perfectly.

The Ford should have a kit that fits right. They also send you a cable that mounts inside the cab to pull and disconnect the unit. The straighter the cable (fewest bends) the better/smoother it works. Once I got mine set up, it worked great. Typically, before each trip, I always washed my truck. Before washing, I would kneel down and spray the disconnect assembly with 409 and then rinse while I was washing the truck. Once I was done, I would kneel down and spray with WD40. This kept it working smoothly for years.
