What to use for braking on a 2015 GMC

I just purchased a new 2015 GMC, 4x4, 1500 Crewcab. The owners manual says I have to disconnect the negative side of the battery. I need to purchase an auxiliary brake. But I thought they all used 12v. My old Brake Buddy was plugged into the cig lighter for power. What are other GM owners using if you disconnect the battery?

You might try a M&G braking unit. They work off the air system on your bus. Our neighbor has a 2015 GMC Denali and his works fine. We've used one on a Chev Trailblazer and currently on a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup and they are trouble free units.

Problem there - I'm driving a gasser - no air system. My coach is an '05 Pace Arrow, 36D on a Workhorse W24 chassis.

I bought the SMI stay n play for my 2015 GMC Canyon. The shop that installed it hold me we may need to do a charge line to the truck. I told them we don't travel more than 5-7 hours a day so I will try that first and see how it goes. Unfortunately, I've been asked back as a consultant so no way to try this set up yet. Hoping to end this by October.

Brake Buddy recommends that you run a dedicated line just for the BB from the battery. I use a BB on our '11 Sierra and it does fine.

Thanks - I like the Brake Buddy, and the dedicated hot line sounds reasonable. I noticed there is what looks like a second battery tray in the engine compartment. If need be, I'll put in a second battery.
