We agree with SteveSkinner. We've had several Subarus as toads. The reason we like them as there are absolutely no restrictions (no fuses to pull, no starting engine after so many miles, no speed restrictions, etc.) The new Outback should be similar in size to a RX 350.
And that Motorhome Magazine list is limited to only manufacturers that give implicit permission. There are quite a few other vehicles that can be towed that are not on the list. The Remco list is more inclusive

So if you're not adverse to shifting gears manually, there are other vehicles that can be towed that are not on that Motorhome Magazine list such as Mini Coopers, VW's, etc. A general rule of thumb is that just about "any FWD with a 5-speed manual can be towed four-down."
