Which base plates for 2005 Honda CR-V?

New to class A and towing. I have a choice of 2 used towbars, a Blue Ox or Falcon 2. Can anyone share their experience installing base plates on a 2005 Honda CR-V? I want to do the install myself so I prefer the one easier to install as both systems seem to have good reviews. Thanks in advance.

Bill,
Gilbert huh? You're not too far from us, Lake Havasu City. Anyway, to me, you're talking two different mechanisms here. A "base plate" and a Tow bar. Most tow bars can adapt to just about any maker of base plate. There's adapter plates for everything now days. Now, as for installing a base plate on your model CRV, I really can't help that much because I installed ours on our '11 CRV. The '11 model wasn't all that hard. There were quite a few clips that just popped out and, a few screws.

Then, the whole front end of the car just "popped" off. It looked like it was in a car wreck. But, that's what's needed for all the access of installing a base plate. Once it's done, you simply POP it all back on. But again, an '05 body style is quite a bit different from an '07-'11. The '12s changed again.

As for your tow bar, you're good with either one. By the way, if you're interested, I've got a complete Ready Brake system for sale that would work perfectly for you, if you're interested.

Bill both Blue Ox and Roadmaster are good base plates and tow bars. Go to their web site both has. The install procedure with pictures, I like the round base plate arms that twist to lock because ease of installation . I think Blue Ox will be a little cheaper.

Roadmaster Inc. - Tow Bars, Braking Systems & RV Accessories
Click on the part no for the installation and pictures.
