Bill,
Gilbert huh? You're not too far from us, Lake Havasu City. Anyway, to me, you're talking two different mechanisms here. A "base plate" and a Tow bar. Most tow bars can adapt to just about any maker of base plate. There's adapter plates for everything now days. Now, as for installing a base plate on your model CRV, I really can't help that much because I installed ours on our '11 CRV. The '11 model wasn't all that hard. There were quite a few clips that just popped out and, a few screws.
Then, the whole front end of the car just "popped" off. It looked like it was in a car wreck. But, that's what's needed for all the access of installing a base plate. Once it's done, you simply POP it all back on. But again, an '05 body style is quite a bit different from an '07-'11. The '12s changed again.
As for your tow bar, you're good with either one. By the way, if you're interested, I've got a complete Ready Brake system for sale that would work perfectly for you, if you're interested.
