I'm somewhat confused with all the different models/types of brake equipment for toads.

Can someone please recommend one that works well, is easy to install and can be easily moved to a different toad if necessary?

When I switched from using a tow dolly, to towing four-down, I bought a used Brake Buddy, for $450. Installed it myself, as it was very easy to install and have been satisfied with it since. Takes only a few minutes to install it in the toad, when I am ready to go.

I am a big fan of Blue Ox Equipment and so, I use the Blue Ox Patriot. I had some set up issues when I first got it but called Blue Ox and they were very helpful in getting me sorted out.
This unit is easy to install, works well. Can't say anything about others as I have not used them but the Blue Ox is a good product IMHOP.

We have used a Brake Buddy (bought new) since 2007, with no problems. It takes about 3 minutes to hook up and take down. I set the sensitivity so it only comes on during hard stops.

We inherited a Roadmaster Evenbrake from the previous owner of our RV. For us the unit has been trouble-free and effective.

The biggest problem with this style of brake system is the awkward nature of the installation. My knees are always unhappily about the time it takes me to attached the "clamp" to the brake pedal! If moved every other day, I'd sell it on Craigs List and buy a built-in system....but like many people we probably only hook-up the toad every 3-4 weeks....so why spend money to change a perfectly good & functional brake system....just be aware that they are somewhat inconvenient.

When towing four down we use the RoadMaster BrakeMaster 9160 as it includes a breakaway system.

Brake buddy, mechanical system. Easiest no maintenance, 3 min. max hook up time :-).

I agree and have been totally satisfied with mine. I think the OP has a diesel and SMI makes Air Force One for them. Flip a switch and go. No hassles of in and out of the car with a heavy piece of equipment or anything else.

How does the system work? Is it a plug and play device...?

We have used US Gear on three toads and several rigs. I like it because when you plug in your electric cord for the lights, it's activated. Nothing to put in or take out of the car. Our coach is pre wired for it so it's an easy system to use.
