Unfortunately wife thinks she prefers automatic this time.
Manual transmissions are fun in sporty vehicles like a mustang. They're just more work in a Wrangler. An Auto will be a much more practical rig and it will be more capable off road for the average driver. An Auto will have a better resell value as well.

As mentioned, either transmission will work great as a Wrangler Toad. I can't think of one advantage over the other really.

Don’t really want a new gen but one locally came out of the sky and whacked me on the side of the head. One owner, traded after 600 miles cause 2 doors weren’t gonna do it. I poked around it and threw a silly number at them, arguing it’s a used car, which they’ve come very close to meeting. Over $10k off what the msrp was on it 4 months ago. Automatic.

Red flags waving have me hesitant. Has balance of new warranty plus it’s CPO as well.

You should be able to get 10-15% off a new one so keep that in mind when negotiating.

The JL is a nice step forward, the manual shift much better then the crappy JK trans and the auto also works better with the extra gears.

If price is right and it’s optioned how you want do it....
