Also have a 2013 Soul + with 2.0 l engine and 6 speed stick. Use Blue Ox tow system that I installed myself and an SMI stay in play duo since I bought it to use with a non air brake coach and it also happens to work just fine with a DP. ALso added a Protect-a-Tow device and after 6 years behind 3 coaches and about 40,000 miles there isn't a spot on the Kia. Wife just bought a 2019 Kia Exclaim with turbo and dual clutch transmission that is supposed to be towable also and if she ever lets me add a baseplate we can tow it. The 2013 only has about 30,000 miles on it and is showroom clean.
As for lights, we started with a Blue Ox light set that I installed but after a couple of years I added diodes to bring the factory tail lights and brake lights into use. The top center brake light is not used however.
I did add a charging line from the coach to the car with a fuse on both ends. There was one time way back where the battery was dead after a loooong downhill mountain trip, and it has been fine since adding the charge line.
This setup has worked great for us and the little Soul holds quite a bit of stuff if needed.
