Bill, indeed there is quite a bit of feedback on the Acadia.

I'm towing an '08, AWD. We love it. Set up with Air Force One brake system, Blue Ox Aventa LX tow bar. Let me know if you have specific questions.

Bob -- Do you disconnect the battery cable, as the manuel states -- I`ve towed Envoy`s & didn`t have the key in ACC - Any input would be most helpful -- Bill Willard

I tow an 08 Acadia and have been around the block in learning all of its requirements. Firstly, there is a revision of the owner's manual in the form of a service bulletin which revises the recommendation of disconnecting the battery cable. Now the procedure is to pull the number one battery fuse in order to prevent battery discharge.

Secondly, pulling the fuse prevents mileage accumulation while the key is in the accessory position. Several forum members have incorrectly stated that the milage will not accumulate while towing, but they are incorrect according to GM, at least on the 08's. Several of us towed a short distance with no wiring attached at all as a test per GM's instruction to our dealer.. it did not make a difference unless the fuse was pulled.

I also utilize the Air Force One for the auxillary braking system which is very nice.

Having read of the "Battery Brain" on IRV2.com, I am presently investigating it's use to remotely disconnect the battery. I spoke to the company yesterday and they report they are not familar with any applications for any of the lambda crossover series. It is a question of how much room there is in the battery compartment under the rear seat floorboard.

Bill, Per CWG, I use the new procedure and only remove the 50amp Batt 1 fuse under the hood. I leave the key in ACC position, per the instructions. The new bulletin from GMC is actually posted at the top of this forum. It is accurate.

Thanks for ALL the info -- I had Camping World install the base plate today, but another problem poped up -- They could not wire the lights, because of the LED tail lite`s -- They said magnetic lite`s was the only way they could get me lite`s -- HELP -- I seen somewhere that NAPA had a fuse that was longer than the 50a original, & was easier to pull -- Is that correct -- I really like the switch idea, & have asked around, but the one`s I`ve talked to, had no idea how to do that -- Hate to be a pain, but got into a jam on this one -- Bill Willard

The shop that installed mine did not use the diodes for the rear lights. Instead, they mounted a separate light set inside the rear lights. I believe they are also LEDs. Work great, and there was no need to disrupt the factory wiring to the lights. They did use the wiring harness Blue Ox provided. I don't believe you have to use magnetic lights. If you need a more technical explanation I can call my installer when I'm back home next week. Or, someone else on the forum may know more about my solution.

The rv dealership which wired up my lights used a diode kit from Brakemaster and did not invade the factory wiring. Another friend who had his Acadia wired had a bulb kit installed. The installer used the space above the rear brake light and drilled out a hole for a orange looking 1157 bulb. They could not find a red bulb for the application when the brakes of the rv were applied. I prefer my red brake light as opposed to the less visible orange bulb.

What a pain it would be to use magnetic lights. Forget that and get to an installer who can help.

I've got a '08 Saturn Outlook FWD and had a Battery Brain installed rather than pull the 50 amp fuse. It's the model with the remote, the "Deluxe" I think. So far it has worked well, no mileage accumulation after 2800+ miles towed. It's mounted on the main feed line where it enters large fuse box under the hood. You do have to reset the clock, but you retain radio presets and all the other stuff. I think this would also happen if you pulled the 50 amp fuse, but am not sure.
