Will Blue Ox base plate work with other systems

Anticipating our purchase of an MH in a year or so, I snagged a free Blue Ox base plate for our Jeep. Are these universal, or do I need to look for a Blue Ox tow bar to match up with the base plate?

Thanks

Most all tow bar manufacturers make adapter ends for their tow bars to hook up to a Blue Ox baseplate.

One word of caution, inspect the welds on that Blue Ox baseplate for poor welding and cracking. I have seen more than a few Blue Ox baseplates that had very poor quality welds.

You may want to investigate towing from an aftermarket bumper instead of using a base plate.

Blue Ox baseplate on our 2016 JTUS. Towing with a Ready Brute Elite tow bar. You'll need the hitching pins, safety cables, taillight cable at a minimum. If you decide on a different front bumper so you can hook directly to that, you'd need different hitching pins (what I call them), but still the safety cables, etc. You also should have some type of breakaway system in case your toad becomes detached. Some states require it by law, some people don't use any breakaway system. Personally, I think not having one is irresponsible. We have one. Here's our setup. Click image for larger version
