Will it tow it?

Been watching and reading for a couple years now. Finally picked up a 05 Newmar Kountry Coach 3910 with a ISC 330. It has 32,000 miles on it and is near new condition.
My question is will it be able to tow our 14 Yukon, which I believe to weigh in at around 5600 lbs. The Yukon has a 2 speed automatic transfer case so it is towable, just not sure i have enough motor. Planning on going out west with the RV.

Welcome to iRV2.

You need to find the RV weight rating sticker , that will tell you the trailer tow capacity of you coach . Or give you the GVWR and GCWR and you can calculate it from those numbers.
The ISC has boat loads of torque to go with the 330 HP, and will tow the weight , but you need to know the chassis and hitch capacities of your coach.
My weight sticker is on the wall at the back of a kitchen cupboard, but there is no standard location.
Here's what to look for.

My sticker is telling me max GVWR is 32,000 and GCWR is 42,000. I'm just not sure if that's empty and dry? Sticker on hitch is torn in half so I can't see rating for it. I'm going to try Newmar and see if they can tell me anything. Thanks for your help and maybe some else could give some more opinions on the motor also.

What those numbers mean is your coaches trailer tow capacity is 10,000 LBS.
Your good to go.

BTW: I'm running with less HP and Torque;( towing 4,200 LBS ) : than your ISC, and getting everywhere I want to go , I'm not the fastest thing on the road , but get up all the hills faster than a loaded semi.

My '02 DSDP had a 6,000# hitch rating but Spartan said I could put a 10,000# hitch on it with no problem.
The 330 ISC had 950 ft lbs torque, ours was a 350hp and 1050 ft lbs and I put a Banks kit on it for 435hp and 1200 ft lbs

That's what the chassis is rated for, not what the hitch rating is. They could be different.

I don't believe that they make the Banks for my motor. Just found out from Newmar that it is a 6000 lb receiver and she said sometimes they over rate them and sometimes they under rate them. I'm just trying to save save some headaches and expense of buying everything and it not being able to tow up a mountain. Looking into 10,000 lb hitch now.
Thanks for your replies. Keep them coming, I can use the help.

The Yukon has a 2 speed automatic transfer case

Just wondering,
On that statement, while you say it has a 2-spd AUTOMATIC transfer case, does it have a NEUTRAL position? I'm going to assume it's like most GM 4x4's, that it does have a neutral and, is electronically shifted, correct? That would mean it has an "N" in the rotation dial, correct?

It does not have a neutral on the dial.

"Skip426" is correct, you're rated to tow 10K, the difference between Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR). I think "Mr_D" may have missed or missed read the numbers you posted.

"tileman17"....Pull out the Owners Manual for your Yukon, go to the index and look up "Recreational Vehicle Towing". This will tell you if the vehicle is towable and the procedure to do so.

Follow Up-

"tileman"....Apparently, your Yukon is towable with the two speed. The information you need is in your Owner's Manual. Here is the online link to your manual. Go to section 10-82. You may want to print the instructions and keep them on a card in the Yukon.

More than likely, you haven't seen the Neutral position because GM hides the light. Look closely at the round shifter nob to the left of the steering wheel and you'll see the outline of an "N" at about the 2:00 or 3:00 position. The only time this lights up is when you first start the truck and the idiot lights cycle through and when you follow the procedure to shift into neutral. It will light up and your dash will say something like ABS and Limited Slip disabled.

Thanks for the responses guys. So I'm 99% sure the Yukon is towable, but still having my doubts about having the power to tow such a heavy toad. I defiantly appreciate your opinions.

"tileman71"....Your coach will do fine. It won't be the fastest to the top of the hill, but in reality, you generally only spend about 5% of your time climbing grades. On flat ground and rolling hills, you'll be able to run 65 if you desire. Remember, diesels don't accelerate, they gain momentum.

That ISC should also get some decent mileage. If your coach has the Alison 3000, you can chip it for more power if you feel the need. I see you live in the east, so not so many grades. Out west, you can't hardly go anywhere without climbing something.
