Wire harness to jeep question
Newbie, need some advise on a wire harness to connect a DP to a 2013 jeep wrangler. I plan to do myself but unsure of what all needs to bought and how it hooks up. I assume the DP end is easy and just plugs in by hitch. Unsure of how it hooks to jeep. Simpler the better.. Thanks in advance

Several choices:
1. Removable magnetic lights
2. Seperate lights in the reflectors
3. Connecting to the lighting circit using diodes
4. Wiring harness adapter
1. Just buy them at Harbor Freight, connect to the MH and stick on the Jeep
2. Drill holes in the reflectors and install new lights, run wires to front of Jeep and plug it in.
3. This is what I have done and still do ('97 Jeep GC and our '05 Honda Odyssey).
4. Somewhere I have a link to this site. Seems easy to do but more expensive.

I like the sound of option #4. So is this adapter seperate from the wiring harness you can purchase and where does it plug into?

As far as option 4 mentioned above, check out the plug n tow from tow daddy . Just installed this system on our '12 Jeep Liberty. Very easy to just plug in, run loom to front, use molded on flat four plug or wire into your front mounted plug receiver and you are done. As mentioned this is much easier and quicker than the diode method but it is more expensive. Around $120. Makes a neat set up though, and an added bonus, the attached electronic control box negates the need to install a brake light relay under the dash.

I have always used the diodes for the brake/turn signal lights and I direct wire the running lights. On all my jeeps I tap in just under the driver side door. I also have a feed from the lights to my modified brake system. I tie in on the MH feed befor the diodes.

I just installed a tow-daddy on my Grand Cherokee, it was a simple plug and play. Very easy to do.

I just use a pair of magnetic lights - easy. If I were to wire, I would install additional and separate bulbs and run wire under the jeep to the front.

I bought a set of these for my Jeep Commander and LOVE them:
TowMate.com - TM2
No wires, just slap them on and go. They work great. I figure by the time I bought all the wiring, diodes and hardware, this was about as cheap.

On my 2008 Liberty and now my 2012 Grand Cherokee, I just installed another set of sockets and bulbs in the reflector. With the Tow Daddy you still have to run a cable to the front of the vehicle. I think that I have about $30 and couple hours labor in mine. Did find that on the Liberty I could run the fore/aft wiring inside the vehicle and be able to access the tail lights. On the Grand Cherokee, all the wiring for the lights comes from underneath. So after a couple hours running the cable inside the Grand Cherokee, I then had to drill a couple small holes to get the wires out to the tail lights. But, at least all the wiring is protected.
BTW - I used the Diodes on a Miata and it was a PITA to make the connections. I then changed to the additional sockets.
