Has anyone else used "Wireless" Trailer & Vehicle Magnetic Towing Lights?

I purchased a set at Pepboy's auto parts store a couple of months ago for 149.00 and I must say they work pretty darn good. I used them on my boat and utility trailer last week and to pull my car behind my RV last month. You can strap them on or use the magnetic mounts on the bottoms. All you have to do is plug the transmitter into your towing vehicles trailer wiring plug and then mount the lights on your trailer or car. The transmitter then sends the brake - turn signals and running lights information to the wireless tow lights. Total hook up time for me was less then 1 minute. I will let you know in a couple of months how they are working out.

Let me know if anyone else has a set of these..

Does anyone have an experience with the wireless tow lights from wireless tow lights. Conceptually, I like the idea, but would like some feedback if this system works as advertised.

I currently use wireless tow lights I bought from Uhaul. I have used them for about a year and a half. They work very well. You plug in the transmitter into your MH taillight outlet. The lights each have 4 AA batteries that last about 40 hours of continuous use. You can turn them off when they are not in use to save juice. When the batteries are low the lights flash.

I use them on my Honda Fit since I didn't want to have it wired. They were about $100 which was way less than the wiring estimate. My only complaint is that they do put some small scratches on the roof paint job. The other thing is apparently you can't use rechargeable batteries. I tried and they don't have enough initial voltage to work. Most rechargeable batteries are only 1.2 volts vice 1.5 volts for alkaline. I just get a 40 pack at Sams or Wallys and that lasts me for our long trips.

The lights are LED so they are bright and don't pull much voltage.

So, what happens when 2 different vehicles using the same wireless tow lights are at a stoplight, one making a right hand turn and the other one making a left hand turn, which one wins the RF frequency war for the correct directional to be lit? Or, possibly each unit sold is able to run on its own frequency? Wow, that would be a lot of frequencies. What happens when you make a mobile phone call while in the car, does it affect the lights? Would other wireless stuff affect the lights?

Only asking from someone who doesn't own a set to people that own them and use them often.

My lights are hardwired which I did myself for less than the $150, 25 feet of 6-way wire, front receptacle, 6 diodes, and the 8 foot 6-way double male cable from the coach to the car. If I had to pay labor too, it would have been $350 total.

Thanks for the info. Glad they are working. I seem to have spent a lot on items with potential, but did not live up to the hype so trying to get a little research done. We may be leaving too soon to get ordered this trip, but will try a set.

What a concept!!! Two cars using turn signals in the same intersection. Doesn't happen around here much. My current theory, one would drop the cell phone trying to activate signal. And why indicate your intentions anyway.

But that is a very good question. So good, I think I will try to ask it on the manufacturers' site. Of course since I've seen none to date, let alone two, may just not enough out there to matter.

Quick Update:

1. Company never responded to my questions.

2. Ordered set and returning. If I had had access to the instructions I would not have bothered.

a. Specifically, one has to manually turn LED units to operate running lights. I knew the had to be turned on, but I thought just to energize receiver and the running lights would be controlled, like blinkers, from cockpit switchs.

b. Instructions specify each the left and right units should be kept from one another at least 6' to 8'. Never going to happen on CRV

I still see their purpose in scheme of things, but not for me and towing the CRV
