Can anyone tell me if there is enough room in the tail light housings for additional bulb sockets, or do I need to use diodes?

My 2008 was done with an additional socket for an led-type light. Sits on top of the oem bulb installation. Has worked fine for 3 years.

Thanks Bob. So where did you get the additional socket? And I presume you drilled an additional hole in the housing?

The installer, at an RV service center in Punta Gorda, Florida, did all the work. He suggested the fixture and make it all work together. Sorry I can't offer any more details.

I do know that it eliminated the need for the diodes that came with the Blue Ox wiring set-up.

I'm woefully ignorant of anything technical.

Thanks anyway, I am sure he drilled another hole in the back of the light housing and installed another light socket.

I used diodes on mine, but it looks like it could handle another bulb if you want.

I ended up using diodes. When I took the tail light housing out there appeared to be plenty of room, but when I looked real close there did not seem to be much extra room inside. I sure did not want to put a hole in the tail light housing in the wrong place and ruin it. I bet they are real pricy.

Good choice. I've been running the diodes for 3+ years and 25k miles of towing and they do fine.

I had an 07 HHR wired with diodes. A GM master Tech found all the wiring under the hood to do the install and nothing had to be wired in back under the carpet. Works great and maybe I was lucky to find the right guy to do the job.
