Everyone's experience could vary, but on our first trip out with our then new 2011 Wrangler behind our DP we got a small rock chip in the grill section.

When I got home I ordered a Diamond Shield protection film kit for the grill and two pieces for the front fenders Auto Paint Protection Film, Clear Bras | Diamond Shield Clear Protective Film My wife and I applied them with no problem at all following the supplied instructions. The only time I can tell the film is there is when I'm washing or waxing the Jeep.

I tow a 2006 jeep and no dings but I do have a rock guard on my Motorhome
I think that could be most of the reason, I do a lot of off roading and still have it when I get a ding (no badge of honor for me) just dissapointment about my jeeps condition
RED and lovin it. Now off the Quartzsite soon need to wash it. My jeep only has 10,000 miles driven and I only use it with the Motor Home trips. but towed over 30,000 miles
