18 gal Manchester propane tank bad valve

We just discovered that the valve on our propane tank(2012) doesn't turn the gas off. Didn't check it on our full day PDI inspection. the only thing that we didn't check. Had never heard of one failing. I suspect that it could have come from the factory like this and no one noticed. 2 dealers say entire tank has to be replaced. Has anyone had a valve fail and are their any known problems with the 2012 Winnebago Access/Chalet 24V models. With the other 5 rigs we had, all had at least one known problem, that's why I am asking about this model. Thx.

There are 2 ways to find out if the valve is replaceable, first, call Manchester Tank co.
with your tanks S# in-hand, second, call a local propane dealer, tell them you have an ASME RV tank with a faulty valve and ask it they will replace the valve.
I suspect the reason those RV dealers said the tank must be replaced is because they do not have an LP gas certified technician to work on ASME tanks, replacing the entire tank is different that taking it apart and replacing a component of the tank.

Thx I plan to call Manchester. I did talk to our propane supplier and they knew of no one who could work on it.
