1985 Fleetwood Jamboree

We have located a 1985 FW Jamboree with less than 75K miles. We are going to look at/drive it this weekend. If the pictures are accurate, the unit is very good condition. I would love to hear from any folks who have owned a similar model.

We have an 87 Fleetwood Southwind, not sure what you want to know, it has a 454 engine, 33 feet long, runs great, after I got rid of the stock, and cracked, manifolds and had headers put on. Has tons of torque for pulling mountains and hills. Replaced the 8r19.5 tires with 245/70r19.5 and made a world of difference in the handling. If you want, pm me specific questions and I will do my best to help you.

The Jamboree is a Class C. The Southwind is a class A.

My first motorhome was a 1997 Jamboree 24' with the 460 Ford chassis. Rough riding but nice otherwise. A 1985 model would have the older drivetrain with a carbureted engine and non-overdrive transmission.

Something to look at closely on any Class C is the overhead bunk area. They are VERY prone to leaks and subsequent rot.

Best of luck!

Unfortunately you are talking bout an almost 30 year old motor home. The experiences of anyone else, with something similar, will have very little bearing on the unit you are talking about. As Nick-B pointed out one of the biggest concerns is water damage. Of course it frequently isn't just in the cabover area. It can be anywhere, around clearance lights, windows or any other openings in the MH.
I imagine this unit has issues (they all do). It will be a question of what are the issues and is it worth buying it and correcting them.
