1990 Ford E350 Cranking Issues

Interested to see if anyone has experience with the issue we are having with our rv.

Last week it died while in drive and waiting in traffic. Someone attempted to jump it and it still wouldn't start. About an hour later it started right up on it's own.

Since then, we have had both batteries tested (one on drivers side and one on passengers side), and had the starter/solenoid (combined on our rv) tested. Just had the alternator tested and Auto Zone said it was bad. Before replacing it, could it simply be the voltage regulator or starter relay?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 1989 F350, 460cid and had the same problems. Multiple replacements (alternator, starter solenoid, batteries etc) later I decided to remove the battery ground to engine block, clean the connection and reconnect. Problem solved, engine hasn't started or ran this well in years!

It could be your ignition coil, I have seen them overheat and shutdown, once they cool down they will work again.

Thanks. We have tried that but it definitely won't hurt to try again.

Is that part of the ignition switch?
