1998 fuel guage proplem tioga F350

I am looking at a 1989 tioga F350 460 with 28xxx miles on it. The fuel pump has been changes but still does not read on gas gauge. any Ideas on what the problem could be? Ground wire maybe, I am looking at it this weekend and if it is as good of shape as discribed will be making an offer.

On the Fords you can change the pump and use the old sending unit. The sending unit is probably bad. Unless there is a bad wire or connection somewhere in the circuit.

Thanks, I will look into that. Do you have to drop the tank to change? I would have thought they would have changed both. I will ask them when I go look at it.

Tank has to come down. A buddy of mine has the same problem right now. He's tracking the miles on fill ups to avoid dropping the tank right now. I did that on my first MH, it got 10mpg, tank was 50 gals. I would pull in and fill up at 300-350 miles, never fixed it. I put a good 80k on it, never ran out of gas.
