1999 ford fourwinds class c

Hi everyone, I just was given a 1999 ford class c fourwinds. I would love to know if this is a good thing or bad. it has 66000 miles on it and looks pretty nice. What I like to know is does the thing have a good track record. Any help is great.

We bought a '97 new, for the year we had it it was OK. Moved up to a '98 Type A because the late DW wanted it.

Hey it was free! Buy a short term liability insurance police and drive it down the road for a while. 66000 miles is not to much. I think you should get a gut feeling about just how good it is. Check to see if everything works. More information about the unit would help too. If you got kids it should drop the cost of weekend getaways. You just might enjoy the lifestyle.

The engine and trans should have plenty of life left in them. Look at the trans fluid, if it is bright red it is good. If brown and burnt smelling, have a fluid/filter change done. I just sold a 98 with 44,000 on it. We really didn't have much of any issues with ours over the 10yrs we owned it.

Pretty solid tig, engine and trans are bulletproof, check age of tires, check roof for any sealant cracks or seams, change oil in genset change air filter in engine and generator, and have fun, lots of lige left in that rv

Change oil, flush and replace transmission fluid, flush and replace coolant, replace brake fluid, replace fuel filter. Plugs should be good to 100,000 miles.
Most people never change the brake fluid but it should be done every 5 years or so otherwise you run the risk of sticking calipers. Happened to us.
If you have a front facing window in the cab overhang, check it and under the mattress for leaks and water damage. Check the roof, especially if it is a rubber roof, for cracks, splits, loose seams, etc. Dicor self leveling caulk is easy to apply as is Eternabond tape. Clean and seal the roof if rubber.
66,000 miles on a V10 (assuming thats what you have) is nothing. We have 90,000 on ours and it's just getting broken in.
Oh, and check the DOT date stamp on the tires. If more than 8-10 years, replace!
Best of luck!

Basically you have a decent skeleton with some potential rubber rot. All the suggestions above are good along with replacing all the belts and hoses unless they have been done recently. Was it in use before you got it or sitting?
