2001 coachmen e450 v10 oil pump

I have had no trouble with my 2001 coachmen until yesterday.

I drive the RV once a month when not used. I started up and had no oil pressure. I retried it again today no oil pressure.

3000 miles on oil
70,000 miles on RV
No oil issues in the past
Sat for about 6 weeks

Hi dampoo.

First off,

When you say "no oil pressure", I assume the pressure gauge is at zero or warning light comes on. Does the engine also rattle or knock?

If the engine is quiet but the gauge or light indicate no pressure, I would guess you actually DO have oil pressure but the sending unit or gauge is faulty.

If the engine is making scary noises as well, then it is definitely without oil pressure. I hope you don't run it for more that a few seconds like that.

Most likely suspect for no oil pressure in your circumstances would be a stuck pressure relief valve in the oil pump. Replace pump.

You can get your self a oil gauge and hook the wires up to the present sending unit and you will find out right now if you have pressure or a bad original sending unit. Some outfits like Auto Zone can do this for you.

Thanks to all.
It turned out to be a short in the wiring. It was detected by a drain on the battery. It took the mechanic 6 hours before he could find the short and rewire it.
