2007 E-450 Gas Tank Fill Problems

2008 is new to me and just about out of Ford Warranty. I am finally convinced after about 4 attempts at fill-ups that either I have a bad sender or something is causing the auto fill on the gas pump to shut off when the gas gauge only shows 3/4. From various "topping off" complications on autos, I just don't try to cram in any extra and then am bummed out when I get in to drive away and find I'm at 3/4ths.

I'm think I've seen other slow fill horror stories but it seems to fill OK at the slowest notch on the pump handle but just shuts off "prematurely ?" if the sender is accurate?

Any first hand experience on this?

My 2005 Minnie 31C is finicky when you fill it up. It is real easy to short fill the tank on a fill-up. I try to avoid filling up at pumps where the nose is higher than the back. The fill up port is at least 8-9 behind the tank. Patience is not one of my virtues, but I need it with the Minnie.
