2015 Jayco Greyhawk 31FS vs. 2015 NeXus Phantom 32P

DW and I are newbies getting close to pulling the trigger on either the Jayco Greyhawk 31FS or the NeXus Phantom 32P. Need some input.

Both units are bunk models on the same chassis with the same engine and have very similar layouts. Most of the differences seem to be: (1) wall, roof, and floor construction differences between the two (this one seems to favor NeXus); (2) bells and whistles (this one seems to favor Jayco); (3) driving/handling (this one seems to favor Jayco, at least in theory, with its "J-Ride" feature; (4) standard warranty (this one favors Jayco, 2 yrs v. 1 yr); and (5) track record (this one may favor NeXus, but I don't know -- Jayco gets a few more "hits" on the forums, but that likely is because there are gazillion more Jaycos on the road than NeXus and Jayco has been in business 46 years as compared to NeXus's 4 years).

I greatly welcome thoughts, particularly from those who own or have owned Jayco or NeXus motor homes.

We went the Nexus factory about 2 weeks ago and had a tour of their production facility. While I was impressed and feel they are well built, I just went with a Jayco Grey Hawk. Jayco, to me has higher quality, better standard features. I. E. Jayco has fiberglass running boards instead of cheep looking aluminum ones. GPS is standard on the Jayco, Etc. I do like the fiberglass roof on the Nexus, but I probably saved over $10 going with the Jayco.

Greyhawks are often times very 'porky' Class C's. Be very VERY mindful of the OCCC on them !!!! Most I looked at had between 1400-1700 pounds on them. When you consider most longer C's have ~1000 pounds on the front axle, it doesn't leave a lot for everything between the two axles and further back.

I chose the rig I did based on floorplan and OCCC primarily. Mine checked in at 2903 pounds w/ full gas off the line at Winnebago. The Jayco had it ALL over my Winnie w/ touch/feel, gadgets, and creature comforts. But it only had 1600 pounds of OCCC. At the end of the day, I wanted a rig I could pack 'fairly' oblivious to my weight and still be okay on my axles and tires. I believe my rig fully loaded probably still has 1600 pounds left to play with. We don't pack much, and I made a conscious effort to put as much as I could forward the midpoint of both axles.

Thanks for your responses. Since posting, we decided to switch gears entirely and going to Class A gasser, the Fleetwood Storm 32H, mainly due to the CCC issues mentioned above, as well as larger water tanks.
