4-Bike Carrier for RV Hitch

Hello there,

Wondering if anyone can recommend an 2" hitch 4-Bike carrier that they used. I'm looking for something sturdy that will last over time. I was recently looking at an Allen 4-bike carrier on Amazon, but it specifically says it should not be used for RV's. I will be carrying 3-beach cruisers and a smaller bmx bike. Just for reference, this is what I was looking at on Amazon which says not for RV use.

Wow, that looks like a great rack. I'm in So-Cal, otherwise I would have bought it from you! Thanks for the offer!

Truth is, Swagman is about the only bike rack that has a warranty made for RV's. There was one other, located in SOCal, but I cant recall the name of the company, but if you Google hitch mounted Rv bike rack, it may show up. As for us, we use the Thule XT Pro (https://www.thule.com/en-us/us/bike-...---2-_-1691037), but you would have to add the 2 bike extender. Downside is that it is a pricey rack, but built like a tank, and no RB warranty. My only issue with the Swagman series is that they do not appear to be a real sturdy setup, although I have never owned one. One Up is good, Kuat, and Yakima areal good racks,, but are spendy.

You might try SARIS bike racks. I do not know if they have a 4 bike rack; I have a 2 bike rack from them and am pleased with it.

If it’s going in a hitch I also suggest a hitch tightener

I have been using a Hollywood 4 bike carrier for a while now with no issues. They make many different models and are solidly built.

I don't have experience with that particular model, but bought a similar looking Yakima.

The hitch connection wasn't the easiest to get installed, or to take out. Also, while on a ~1400 mile RV trip to the NE (Maine, etc.) from NJ, the rack started bending backwards. We had 2 adult and 2 kids bikes on it.

We've since bought a Thule. It's super simple to install and is more well constructed. It's a little more expensive but has been worth it.

We have the 2nd Thule below (swing out):

https://www.amazon.com/Thule-9025-Ap...e+rack+4+bikes

https://www.amazon.com/Thule-9031XT-...e+rack+4+bikes

Hope this helps.

Spent many, many years racing every weekend.

This is without question the best rack. You can get an extension to accommodate 4 bikes.

I would question that. Not saying that it isn’t a good rack, but I think Kuat NV is better. JMHO.

I have the same Allen carrier that your looking at. I extended the arms a bit to make more space between the bikes. I have used it for many yrs no problems. I will say with a full load it will bounce around a bit.

I use mine behind my jeep grand cherokee and it has a luggage rack when fully loaded I would put some straps onto the carrier up to my luggage rack to help stabilize it.
Being that the arms fold down and the whole thing swings down too you have two points with slop to flop around.
Never had one come loose or anything just giving you a heads up. It will work but more expensive better ones out there.
