We hit 5000 miles on the Four Winds this weekend and still no problems! Every thing works the way it's supposed to and we are getting 8.5 mpg. life is good. Scotty.

Sorry to say I have to edit this post! I developed a vribration between 50-55 mph that turned out to be bad drive shafts. Ford ordered new from the vin # and they didn't fit (too short coach streched) manufacturer sent replacement you guessed it too short wrong spline, third one on the way now. Fingers crossed. Oh as a note I haven't missed a weekend with it yet I had it reasembled and lived with the little buzz at 50. Scotty.

Crossing the fingers didn't work! Third set of shafts don't fit! They want us to measure and take more pictures so they can make some? This is supposed to be a standard item that has been in production for several years. The old ones are back in and we are on vacation for the next ten days vibration or not. Scotty.

Scotty, why don't they have your shafts re balanced at a good drive shaft shop ? I would rather have the originals speced at a good shop since no replacement seems to fit. I would be wondering what was going on with 3 different no fit stock shafts?

J13 I did have them sent out and balanced and new U joints installed ($395.00) out of my pocket. I am still getting vibration at different speeds most notably 50-55 mph. We love the camper and can't replace it for what we paid for it so we will tough this out. I still have 13 months on the coach and 25 months on the chassis warrenties an intend to use them. Thanks to the hard work of my Ford dealer we haven't missed a weekend of use and just came off a 10 day trip. What bothers me the most is the inability of the manufacturer to send a part that should have been documented at build time. Somebody ain't telling the truth here! This is a 2005 rig so the records should be easily researched and a part duplicated if not on the shelf. I'm getting long so I will drop it for tonight. I will let all know how this turns out. Scotty.

Fxrscotty,
Have you tried (you probably have) speaking to the coach manufacturer and have them intervene with Ford. They have responsibility in this matter, since they choose the running gear manufacturer.
Good luck, any one of us could be in your situation.

Tom, Ford is off the hook on this one. Four Winds sends this chassis out and has it strected for this model. It is no longer a standard drive train. Ford tried to replace both safts using the vin # and that's how we found out it had been modified. I will eventually get it resolved and documented. Scotty.

Now for the rest of the story. Just picked up my RV today and man is it smooth! I waited untill we were pretty much done camping for the year before bringing it back in to have the shafts sent back and new ones made. It was a three day turn around and the coach glides down the road. Kudos to Mor/ryde for making good on this issue and reinbursing my expenses. And we never missed a day of use all season! Scotty.
