I put this just below the roof vent with an 80 - 100 degree thermoswitch. Anything above the '2' setting turns the frig into a freezer.

Can you provide a part number and supplier for the thermo switch you used. I have tried Radio Shack and some others, but am unable to find anything close. Thanks..

Unca Waldo have you seen less frost/ice build up on the fridge fins inside it??

I put one of these in last year. No more frost/ice on the fins. More uniform temp inside too.

For some reason, frost/ice build-up hasn't ever been an issue with my refer... could be because I usually use my rig in very dry environments.

I'm not sure that merely cutting down heat from the sun would have any effect on frost/ice build-up. Probably adding a fan to keep air circulating would have a more beneficial effect.
