I own a 2000 Four Winds 5000 28A (hence my handle). On the driver side is my generator, house battery, and to the immediate right of my house battery is a secondary battery bay. This is awesome but! I do not have a door/access to that battery bay other than crawling under to load/unload. That will get old real soon. Has anyone ever created a new access door without taking the RV to a dealer or professional and have it done? I attached two photos of a 28A with and without access to the secondary battery bay. Your thoughts and advice on this matter are appreciated. For clarification, the door under the water is the access door to the LPG tank.

Put in a door if there isn't one.

Yeah, I get that, but the question is "Has anyone ever installed an access door themself?". If so, how did you do it?

I see a door, a door and a blank space, is that where you want to put the access?

If so, look at it from the other side, if there is no support beam or other obstruction,, It's a simple job to saw a hole and slip an access door, which you can get at most any decent RV place including Camping World. and bolt it in with a bit of calking behidn it to seal.

One caution.. IF you plan to paint it (If needed) to match your rig have the paint guy work on it BEFORE you cut the hole.

I don't see anything behind it that would obstruct my cutting. I was thinking that if I try to match the color that I try save the exterior laminate somehow and affix it to the door. May not work but it's a thought.

Picture 1 is what I want (Ford front). Picture 2 is what I have (Chevy front).

If you try to re-use the existing panel on the door it is going to look kind of crappy.... Have a body shop paint it for you to match before you cut the hole.
