Adding exterior ladder to 2014

Hello All,

I am going to add an exterior ladder to my Winnebago Trend but cannot seem to find any framing schematics to know where the studs/supports are. Does anyone know where I can find this info?

Thank you,

Two points for you:

If it didn't come with a ladder, it probably does not have the necessary backing to add a ladder.

But, to employ an old carpenter trick, you can map the framing by using your middle finger to tap repeatedly across the target area. When the pitch goes up, you have framing and when it goes down, you have hollow. This works most everywhere including houses. Do this laterally (for studs) and vertically (for blocking) to map the area. As I said, you probably will not find the necessary blocking but you might get lucky and find the stud spacing sufficient for a ladder to be added.

You can find out a lot of information from the WGO website. It asks you what you have and there are schematics for most of the systems.

I have found support at WGO to be stellar. I would talk to them as an option.

Call Winnebago Customer Relations and ask if there are any ladder backing supports pre-installed. Also request a drawing of the rear wall structure so you know where supports are. Good luck,

I got one of these from Camping World (who matched Amazon's price), as my motorhome has 4 slides including a rear queen bed slide (hence no place for a ladder). This collapses down to something easy to carry and store in the cargo area, and is very sturdy. I'm an engineer and looked at many of these, and this one is by far the best I've found for a reasonable price. Since it's not attached to the motorhome I can use it to put lights up in trees when camping (wife likes some ambiance at night) or other things where a fixed ladder would not work.
