Aftermarket Cruise Control

Two of us have older class C motorhomes and need cruise control. Mine is a 77 Vandura (GMC) chassis and it does have cruise but very rudimentary (i.e. on / off) with no resume etc. My buddy's unit does not have anything for a cruise unit.

At one time I had a Ford B class and it had an after market Cruise unit that worked pretty well but I'm told these are no longer marketed.

Does anyone know for sure that this is the case?

If these units are still available or for that matter any after market units are still available that work could you please e-mail me the contact information

Thank you
Dennis

You might want to get a J.C. Whitney Catalog and take a look through it. I'd say, go to their website, but 3/4s of what they sell is never listed on their website catalog via search.

My rig had such an aftermarket unit on it (not working) that I took off, when I got it years ago. I looked into a replacement, no luck. Everything i could find looked to be of the same marginal quality so i gave up on the idea. Frequent stops to rest and sightsee/eat is my solution to no cruise control.

I agree JC Whitney will possibly have something but durability is not gonna be anything like newer, OEM systems. Let us know if you find something quality.

They still sell these, I found this one at JC Whitney which looks very much like the one I installed on my '67 Mustang in the late 1970's. The one I installed required gluing 4 magnets to the driveshaft and mounting a sensor so that it would detect when each magnet went by, this is how it measured vehicle speed. If I remember correctly that was the worst part of the install.
