Airbag warning light is on - E 450

Not sure if this is just a coincidence but we just had the interior of our 2014 Four Winds Siesta reupholstered. The driver and passenger seats were removed, as well as the fold out sofa and dinette benches.

While driving the MH to the upholstery shop with only the drivers seat installed to have the rest of the new upholstery reinstalled, I noticed that the orange airbag warning light was "on" while driving.

Not even sure what that warning light indicates, but I figured it had something to do with the passenger seat being removed, with wires disconnected for that seat. But driving back home last night with all of the new upholstery installed, the orange airbag warning light was still on,

Does this have anything to do with the upholstery work we had done? Is it just a coincidence that the light came on now?

Any suggestions on what I can do, or is taking the MH to a dealer my best option.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

If the passenger side seat was not in the vehicle then you set a code for the weight sensor in that seat. I'd suggest you get the codes pulled and if it set that DTC then clear it after the seat is reinstalled.

Thank you for the response Fordfixer, but Can you clarify?

Are you saying the airbag warning light has something to do with the drivers and/or passenger seat?

Both of those seats were removed, and the seat supports were rebuilt. Then the seats were reupholstered in leather material.

Are you saying I should take the MH to a Ford dealer to have codes checked and/or reset?

Two functions of the wires to the seats. One is to tell computer passenger seat is occupied, (Weight sensor) and/or either seat belt is fastened. On mine, drivers seat removed for maintenance, airbag light because the wires were not connected on re-install. My light went away when wires were connected.

Fordfixer feels it's Possible your computer set an error code that must be cleared before your light willreset.

If you don't have access to a OBD II code reader to clear codes then try disconnecting the positive cable from the battery for five minutes then reattach it. Start motor home and if everything is connected under it should be clear.

Thank you for the suggestion Sagamore. I tried disconnecting the positive battery cable and waited about 10 minutes before reconnecting.

Unfortunately when I started the engine the Air Bag Warning came back on.

Sounds like me only option at this point is to take it to a Ford Dealer.

I don't know how much different the Ford air bag set up is from the Chrysler that I'm used to working on . But the Chrysler set up used two separate fuses for the air bag controller , if one fuse was blown the light would stay on .
Checking the fuses , might save you a trip.

Passenger seat probably has to be recalibrated for weight sensors in the seat
