Are your retractable steps doing this?

If your step is doing this.....its the gears stripped in the motor. You need to replace or rebuild.

This is on a 2006 Forest River Lexington 283GTS,

When my step started acting erratically, it was all in a bad ground wire. Fixed and problems disappeared. maybe...

My Steps 32 Series does the same as the OP video. Today I removed the motor and in my case it is not the gear that goes on the motor that is damaged but the big gear inside the gear assembly. Some teeth are shorter and the can not grab the motor gear anymore.

So I have ordered on amazon.ca Kwikee 1101425 Gear/Linkage A. This is the gear assembly for my 32 series. It is 96$Cad which is about 75$US shipping included.

First you disconnect the arm that goes to the steps, then you remove the motor (3 screw and a harness), then the gear assembly can be removed by removing 4 bolts.

I have changed my motor last year and I bought it also from amazon.

Could be a lot of things, but kind of looks to me that the limit switch on the steps are out of adjustment. Because of this the step is not aware that it is all the way in, or all the way out.

Some steps use actual limit switches (small switches that are hit by the step or tab at either all the way in, or all the way out.) Others use the electrical load on the motor to know if it is all the way to the end of travel.

I do not have enough information to know exactly what situation is yours.

Good luck.
