Atwood Furnace and Dometic AC w/Heat Pump

We have a 2017 Leprechaun 260DS and just noticed that we don't have a Thermostat for the Furnace. Does the heat pump come on and then switch to Furnace? Or are we supposed to have a thermostat for the Furnace. Thanks for any information.

This is our thermostat.

I think if you push the "mode" button a couple of times it might show "heat" with a little flame in the window.

Typically the way some work with heat pumps the LP furnace will bring the coach up to temp. then the if the heat pumps can't maintain it within 2 deg. the furnace will come back on. Look in your owners manual and should explain something similar to that.

That thermostat provides for you to choose either heat pump or furnace. You decide depending on the temp outside. As I understand, heat pump works as long as it does not get too cold outside.

My 2017 Leprechaun (319MB) has a Dometic thermostat with separate mode settings for "HEAT" meaning heat pump, and "FURNACE' meaning the Atwood propane burner. Nothing automatic about switching between modes. My thermo looks real different than yours, however.

Should be easy enough to experiment with whatever modes you have and she what comes on in each mode. FWIW I had good luck emailing the Dometic support office to get a pdf manual to explain what's what. The 'magic' is in the thermostat so ask for that.

I find the heat pump is effective down to about 50 degs. Supposed to work down to 40 but approaching that there seemed to be more airflow noise than heat; also less effective in higher humidities.

One last thought - the a/c with heat pump is an optional upgrade, not standard equipment. Are you sure you have that?

Thanks everyone. After switching between the modes I did see that it showed Heat Pump and Furnace. I knew for sure that we did have the A/C with Heat Pump. The only other thing we noticed is that sometimes if you barely rub against the thermostat it will change modes and temp. Has anyone else had that problem? That is a real pain. I have wrote Forest River about this so expect a reply today or tomorrow.

Your heat pump will work to the low 30's unless the humidity is high then will automatically switch to furnace. The heat pump gets annoying when it starts to freeze up and reverses to melt the coils. It makes a lot of strange sounds.
