32' Georgetown Class A, 02 model year, 5-speed transmission got a consistent 7.8 mpg - no toad. Interestingly, the mpg didn't change with altitude which was a pleasant surprise. Our previous rig, an '85 26' Class C with a 460/4-bbl and enough smog gear to sink the Forrestal, got 6 mpg at sea level and around 4.5 above 2000'.

I have a 2007 fleetwood jamboree with the V-10 and I hate it. the gas millage isn't the real issue for me. unless you own a diesel, a gasser is going to pull low MPG. my problem is the torque. I bought it under the primness that it got 35 more foot pounds than the 6.0 chevy. Not, I live in the mountain west and need most of my torque for down hill descents and of course climbing. last year I found myself smoking up my brakes in 1 gear coming down fairview canyon. I believe the V-10 to be chalk full of problems with maintenance and what a real V-10 should be. I miss my old 454 Rancho El Rey. they don't build them like they use to. ( my brother owns my old one now, and he blows me away on the I-80 sisters in Wyoming) V-10 huh!

2011 Ford E-350 with the V-10, 23 foot long. I run the freeway speed limits, I don't run slow for mileage purposes. I've averaged 9.5 mpg and gained about 0.5 mpg since using the 5 Star Tuning firmware flash.

Average miles per gallon with Ford V-10
1991 Winnebago Warrior on Toyota 1 Ton chassis (3.0 V6) was 12-12.5 MPG. 2001 Jamboree 24D on Chevy 3500 chassis and Vortec 7.4L (454) was typically 10.5 - 11 MPG. 2004 Chinook Concourse E350 Ford 6.8L V10 was 8.5-9.5 MPG. 2008 Winnebago View with a 3.5L Gas, not diesel (!) engine is 12.5-14 MPG. All Class C. I loved the Chinook but was amazed that the smallest, most aerodynamic and 2nd lightest Motorhome we owned had the worst mileage.

Just FWIW: The PO of my V-10 powered rig installed the 5-star tune. Said the power increase was very evident..... mtns previously topped at 45 MPH topped at 55 MPH after the tune + easier to merge into traffic. Mileage increase ...... none that he could measure; no change ..... up or down. He considered it $ well spent.

RVleagleagle, 2017 Sunseeker 32ft Class C with the V10, 6 speed. CAT scale says we are 19,200 with toad on a dolly. 7.5 driving 65 and drops to 7 if we drive 70 and that was during our first month of ownership last year. I haven't checked or worried about it since then. It's just not a factor when you are enjoying the trip.

My 650 HP 1950 ft lbs Cummins ISX gets 7.6 mpg over the last 47,000 miles. Not much different than the last rig with 350/1050 ISC with Banks kit (435/1200 after). I figure 7 for estimating fuel usage since my AquaHot and generator use from the same tank.
I don't think the ISX 12 was available in 2004, but I'll check further to be sure. I think it's an ISM.

Just because the engine is CAPABLE of making 650 hp doesn't mean it is doing that rolling down the highway.
Fuel mileage is as a function of horsepower produced, if two engines, in this case a 650 and a 350, are pretty much equal technology.
With two similar size and weight rigs, travelling at similar speeds, and on similar terrain they will each require similar horsepower to do so.
The maximum horsepower is completely irrelevant.
