Battery Monitor installation

Hello All. I have a 2018 Jayco Redhawk, 26XD with a single battery installed. I want to install a battery monitor and I'm confused about a part of the install. If I'm correct the shunt holds all of the negative cables coming from the battery, with one cable coming from the other post of the shunt back to the negative post on the battery. When I look at the existing connections on my battery I have 3 cables attached to the positive post and only 1 cable going to negative. I was expecting to see multiple cables attached to the negative post as well. Those would be the cables that I'd attach to the shunt. Am I missing something or should there only be 1 negative cable that needs to be attached to the shunt? I'll post this in the Jayco owners group as well. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Most likely the single negative cable from the battery is attached to the frame and then all the other negative wires are attached to the frame at a common ground post.

Nope, all of the negative leads go to the chassis! Take the negative lead off the battery and put the shunt between the negative post and the ground lead. If you are handy, take a piece of 3/4 inch copper pipe and flatten it and make a bracket like the one shown. That way you mount the shunt and don't need to get another cable!
