This is our first MH, and I'm wondering about the Battery Shut Off switch.

When do you turn it off, and when do you leave it on? Does it need to be on to charge the batteries? I'm sure we went over this at the dealer, but there was so much going on, I'm sure it went in one ear and out the other.

thanks for the help.

Dave, We leave our battery switch on when the motorhome is plugged in to electric service , and when we are in the unit. When its plugged in the batteries will stay charged , and when you are using the unit, the 12 volt system needs power. When it is being stored, the switch is turned off to help keep the coach batteries from running down. Thanks Marvh. Since we store it at our house, I guess it'll stay on.

I would only leave it on when it is plugged in, no matter where you store it.

It is plugged in at home. I have a 30amp outlet just for the camper.

Hi. I am pretty new to RVing. We have a 1991 Born Free (President) 24'. What is the battery shut off switch? Where would I find it? Is there one on older Rv's? We bought the rig last summer and put in a new battery. We have had some trouble with it. It runs down easily. I was wondering if a trickle charger would help. I have read about 3 stage chargers but have more interest in a solar charger. Do you know what would be best?
