I just bought a used 24' class C, and while cleaning it up, I hooked up the city water to a hose by my house. I could not get any water into the system. I noted there was a check valve on the hookup, and if I pressed in, water would drain out, so I made sure I had a screen installed in the end of the hose to push this in and allow water to flow, but no luck?? The fresh water tank and pump worked fine, but I'd like to use a city water hookup when possible? any ideas what I'm doing wrong??

There should be a valve with 2 positions close to where you hook up the water to the RV. One position is for tank fill and the other is for city water connection. To use the city water set the valve for city water and then check and see if you have water at the faucets inside your RV.
Good Luck,

I looked for a valve, but could not find one. The city water hookup is seperate from the fresh water tank. I think it's the check valve on the hose hookup on the outside of the unit, but can't find a way to ensure that its opening??

You need to furnish us some more information about what kind of Class C you have.
Who makes it, year and what model is it?
There should be a 2 position valve that is marked "city water" and "fill tank" close to where you hook up the hose to the coach.

........... As above mentioned by Jon............there must be a switching valve you haven't found. You mentioned putting a screen in the end of the water supply hose before you connect it, it's not necessary to let the water flow, water pressure pushes in the relief valve to let the water flow in, and when there is no pressure the small spring will close the check vale so water will not run back out when there is no water pressure. Good luck and travel safe.

thanks to all for the replies! I will double check for the elusive valve?? My unit is a 93 Rockwood Viper model 8240, class C. I'll post a note if/when I find the valve!
