Clam Shell for an RV

I purchased a clam shell storage container for my Class C, now I want to mount it to the roof. I have a 31W 2005 Tioga and want to know if there is an "approved" mounting system or procedure. I think the "last" thing I want or should do is to bolt or screw down the thing to the roof, then hit it with calking to keep the water out.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I plan to put things like folding chairs and other light things in the carrier.
We are new to the RVing life, spend 29 years in the Army, this is our "retirement" gift to ourselves in the hope of "relaxing" during my second career. Thanks!

My parents had one mounted on their Foretravel MH. They never could get the roof sealed after that until they had it removed and plugged the holes. the never put it back on after that.

One word of caution when putting one of those on TOP of an RV, ANY Rv save a PUP or a HI-Lo type trailer.

Take a measurement.. There is a height limit, Generally 13'6" but it may be different either for RV's or where you are.

Also if it makes your rig 13' tall, don't go under any 12'6" bridges or you may be left with half a clam. (And the court with a whole bunch of clams) .
Home is where I park it!
