Class C Winnebago door step won't stop

Winnebago Access 2007 steps won't stop going in and out even when they are turned off at the door switch. They work fine otherwise, they just wont stop going in and out with the door and when we are parked with that switch turned off. The only way I can stop them is by removing the proximity switch (magnet) on the bottom of the screen door and I see that as a safety problem if someone forgets to hook it back up prior to leaving.
Any help/suggestions is appreciated.
Thanks,

Bill

Use a volt ohm meter and check the on/off switch. It should override the magnetic switch. The step should retract when you turn the ignition on whether the magnet is on or off the door.

Sounds like it's acting like the engine is running or the ignition key is on. At least the step thinks it's on. I have seen others wired to act that way if the E-brake is not set. Might want to check the E-brake switch.

Check the door switch. It is either a push button type switch mounted on the door jamb or a magnetic switch mounted on the bottom, jamb side of the door. It is black and easy to overlook.

The door switch checks good (ohm meter). I even disconnected it and the steps still went in and out with the door. Near as I can tell, mine is not affected by the e brake either. The only thing that stops it, is removing the magnet at the bottom of the door.
I suspect the controller. I was just hoping there was something simple I had missed.

We just bought a 2007 Itasca Impulse 29T, and are having the same problem.
