Coach House RV Impresssions

We are considering downsizing from our Dynamax 340 and have found the Coach House 261XL interesting. This model is build on a Ford E450 cutaway chassis. However, we live in California and Coach House doesn't show or market out here. So we would be very interested in feedback from current and former owners for their products. We are especially interested in driving dynamics (ride comfort, impact from wind and passing trucks), and warranty and service issues. I would also like to know if the water heater which is heated primarily by the coach engine with electric backup works when dry camping. Any other observations and comments would also be welcome.

Long Beach, Ca.

We have a 2013 261XL and had CH install a 3 way water heater, engine assist, electric and propane. So no problem with dry camping. The standard setup comes with SafeTplus steering control and MoreRyde rear suspension giving a great ride.

Thanks for the info. Have you driven in strong cross winds? We get a lot of that out West.

Yes, have been in some very strong 90 degree cross winds in Texas and the SafeTplus steering damped the effect to a minimal steering correction effort

We have a 2009 272XL. Has been a nice rig; great handling, relatively maintenance free, well built, gets a lot of questions from people seeing it. Bathroom is a bit small, but should not be a problem on the 261. Water heater good for one day after driving due to engine heating and warms quickly if you fire up the generator. Haven't tried to use the batteries/inverter to see if it would work. I suspect it would drain them quickly.
