My question is should the shared battery be a deep cycle? Since it'll be used and charged frequently? It is not currently....
Most class C RVs do have 2, (or more), batteries:
1.) A chassis, (aka:starting/engine), battery, (which is a not a deep cycle battery), and is used for all of the "truck portions" of the RV
2.) A house battery, or batteries, (which should be
"deep cycle"), and is/are used to power all of the RV items/systems that are not on an ordinary truck.
BTW, it seems odd to me that on your coach the house battery is used to power the engine's glow plugs
Are you sure that is the case?
