Thumbs up DIY oil change...engine and generator!

Thanks to all the great advice on this forum, i finally got time and confidence to change the oil on our "new to us" 32 ft Dutchman motor home. This is the first motorhome we have ever owned. I decided to go with the Motorcraft synthetic blend (5w-20) for the Ford V10 and Shell 15w-40 for the Onan 4000w generator. Luckily i had the T-30 torq bit to remove the access panel for the genny drain plug. I did have to buy an oil filter wrench and stuck with the motorcraft filter also. Engine ran for several minutes and no leaks so shut down and put the BatteryMinder back on the chassis battery and started the generator. No leaks there either, left generator running and turned on a couple 1500w heaters to let the genny exercise for 2 hrs. Again, thanks to all on here. I know right where to come when i have any question.

Good news. Don't tell anyone where you are as they will be looking to get you to do theirs.

I found that on the older Onan Emerald Plus 4000 buying the longer oil filter makes subsequent removal much easier - the OEM short one was a PIA - not sure whether this would apply to newer Onan 4000. I use Wix oil filters on both chassis and generator as they have great rep.
