Question Does this make a good motorhome? 2009 Winnebago - $34999

I'm looking at this Motorhome. 2009 24ft Winnebago Chalet with 55,000 miles. Two upgraded Queen Mattresses, sleeps 6, flat panel tv/dvd combo, roll out awning, shower, microwave, stove, oven, new a/c, captains chairs, the list goes on. Opinions . Should I buy it ?

Thanks, Bob

If it suits you and the price is right, why not?

Just curious.. Is this in Crossville ,TN.? Looks like one I've seen in town for sale. NADA gives a pretty good price for RV's but you'll need to kinda take down some info on the unit since there's alot of options to choose from.

Yes it's in Crossville Tennessee. It's not been taken care of very well either.

It seems like a good ball park price though I did see one on rvtrader.com for 29K. I have a 24 foot class C as well. The length, cost and MPG were what drove me to buy mine. If you like it, offer 29K and see what happens.

No neighbor but I can see the outside has damage. Damage around on outside skin where they said a trailer sraped up against them and all the trim around the corners is coming off.

Winnebago builds an above average class C. I would be really skeptical about "sleeps 6" in a 24' class C. Two are probably on the dinette...they need to be small people and really close friends. The other two will go in the overhead and some have problems with the roof being so close.

The main bed is a corner bed which is often refereed to as the "first timers bed". You have to crawl out over the corner that is open.

With that mileage it could have been a rental in 09.

Owner contacted me by e-mail and said, Thank you for your interest in the RV. It no longer has a factory warranty, but it has been checked out front to back in the past couple of weeks. No issues at all.Very good shape for the year and mileage. 25,000 is a little low for this motor home. NADA has it valued around 38,000. I would be more than happy to set up a time for you to test drive and look at if you like.

If you go to check it out, pull the mattress back in the overhang and look for water stains, moisture, mildew or mildew smell. Look at the area under the windows. A recently replaced mattress might be a tip off also.
Almost all Class C's with a "rugrat room" leak at some point unless the owner is really diligent and proactive about checking and repairing potential and existing leaks. This is one of the reasons we went with our Aspect as it does not have the overhang and has limited seams for water entry. Plus we have no kids so didn't need the bunk space. Even so, we experienced a small leak at the front cap, since repaired.

My first impression also. If the owner has maintenance records and use logs may be.

I'm pasting on this motorhome because it will be parked for two years. I need a 5th wheel or travel trailer.

Thanks, Bob
