Looking to downsizing from a 35 Winnebago to a Dutchmen Dorado. lots of questions.
1- Who maintains the Mercedes diesel engine. Dodge or a Mercedes dealer?
2-Can you really get 18-20 gas mileage?

RDNesbitt - we own a 2009 Dutchmen Dorado 24A with the Mercedes V6 Diesel...the MH is badged under the Freightliner name which is the same as the Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter. Our local Chrysler Dealer is the servicing dealer and takes care of any warranty issues. I only have about 2200 miles on mine and took it to the dealer for a recall...they were great. I also ordered a spare oil and fuel filter which I leave in the MH in case I'm on the road and for some reason I need to change my fuel filter. In regards to MPG...the best we have recorded was 15 MPG. I'm sure that will increase...however I really don't think it will ever hit 20mpg. There is just too much sail in the wind. We love the Sprinter/Mercedes/Freightliner...its easy to drive and just right for the two of us with our little dog.

Well, no reply's on the Dutchmen. So we have made a decision to go smaller with a class B. We are not doing a lot of camping, but still prefer camping over motels. With homes in Fl and NY we will be taking shorter trips. We have settled on the Pleasure-way Excel RD. We don't want to tow a car we think? Can anyone compare the gas mileage between the V10 and the V8. It seem to me to tow a mid size to small car you would want the V10 which has a rating of 5000 lbs. Any comments will be welcome on this Class B.

We found a 2008 Pleasure Way, Ford V10, Excel at lazydays. It had 14700 miles on it and looks like it is new. They gave us a good price for our Winnebago so we traded. No problems so far. Is there anyone on this site that has Class B RV's.
