Fresh water tank flushing

Folks!

This is my first post on this forum. Thanks for taking the time reading (and replying to it hopefully )it!

So my father passed away a few weeks ago. I inherited from his 27' class C RV. It seems to be a Freedom by coachmen and the model number is 258db...

he didn't have enough time to conduct every maintenance check and forgot to flush his fresh water tank...weeks went by and water sat there....now it really smells bad - rotten eggs...

I read I can get rid of the smell by sanitizing the system but the fresh water tank is full...how can I empty it without flushing the water using faucets and the pump? The tank is located under a seat and hoses go to every faucet and the water heater but no valve can be found inside or outside the RV to flush that water...

I wanted to visit the dealer but the RV registration and insurance have not been transfered to me so I can not safely use it on the streets yet...

I can provide pictures if required! !

Cheers and I'm looking forward discussing with you guys! !

If there is a storage bay under the tank chances are the drain valve is located there. The drain will be located under the tank somewhere if not in a storage bay.

Drain the tank completely, fill about 1/4 and add a full cup of bleach, fill the rest of the way. Turn on water pump and open faucets one at a time, including hot water, until you smell bleach, do this for every faucet including the shower, and any outside faucets you may have. Let sit for a couple of hours. Drain the tank, fill with fresh water and then open and flush each faucet like you did before, done. There are videos on YouTube that show how the procedure is done.

I'll give the storage unit that's located underneath the tank another look...but I doubt it's there!! It's a rather large storage compartment but I haven't seen any valve in there.... wait out!

Found the valves under the main bed - although the flow wasn't too powerful, I ,amazed to empty the tank this afternoon and the system is being sanitized as we speak. I'll drain everything tonight!!

Thanks soonerdave

Sorry for the loss of your father. Seems I am learning a lot the hard way and I got mine new. The forum here is a good place to find help. If you need info on your rv a lot can be found by doing an internet search. Sometimes the manufacture can provide info. Good luck with your rv.

Thank you for the good words Charles L. One day at the time

Now that the bleach is out and that I need to put backing soda and a gallon on water in the tank, do you guys know how I could pump it in the fresh water tank other than using the city water connection that pushes the water in? Note that I don't think my fresh water tank can be gravity fed. So I thought about pumping the backing soda solution with the pump through the winterizing inlet....would this solution work? Would the backing soda ,she it to the tank?
Trying to be creative here

Thanks! !

There should be two connections for water. One is city water inlet. When connected you leave your pump off and the system is pressurized by the city water connection. The other is to fill your tank and is normally gravity feed to fill. This requires use of the pump to pressurize the system. Both water systems should be separate systems. Check and see if there is a filter in one of the outside storage compartments. It may need a new filter. Some rv's have a third connection for flushing the sewage tank. It should be marked as sewage flush or similar. I typically use the water for showers, cleaning dishes, and toilet. I always carry bottled water for drinking, cooking and coffee.
