Gas Mileage for a Mercedes 3.5 Diesel
I am considering a Thor Citation 24ST motor home.
What kind if fuel economy can I expect with this vehicle. I am not a fast driver and would probably drive 60/65 on freeways.

Probably a 3.0 liter V6 diesel (not aware of a 3.5??) . . .
Our 2012 Navion iQ, 3.0 V6 diesel, gets about 14-15 MPG at 62-63 MPH towing a 3,300 lb. Ford Escape. With no toad, more like 16-17.

We have a 2014 Citation 24SA we got back in July, and we've been getting around 14 MPG. That's with two people, typical gear, full tank of water, and keeping the speed right around 70.

Need advice on why my range hood just quit. View. 24G 2013/ neither the liters nor the vent work, but the 3amp fuse is intact. Please advise

Sprinter-based RVs (Mercedes 3.0L turbodiesel) usually average around 16-17 MPG at 60 mph.

Please don't try to get "gas" mileage with a diesel! They don't like a diet of gas.

We,re only getting 12.5 mpg on our 13VG, not towing anything, going 62. What do we need tod to get the expected 15 mpg? Only have 10k miles on the rig.
Any advice will be appreciated

2008 Sprinter 3500 chassis with a 2010 class C house build pulling. 6x12 enclosed trailer averages 13.6 mpg over the last 30,000 miles. Trailer plus contents 2800 lbs. motorcycles, bicycles and kayaks etc.
No trailer 14-15 mpg is common. At highway speeds trailer or no trailer never better than 15.5 and never worse 10.5 no matter the vehicle speed or wind conditions. West bound in Kansas with a 40 mph headwind with the trailer 10.5 mpg same conditions with the Ford 4.0 mpg. With the class C Sprinters the wind resistance is the critical factor, class B Sprinters report avg MPG 15-22.
The trailer does not effect the Sprinter MPG the way it does pickup trucks. My pickup MPG drops in half with the same trailer. Drjoe wind is your enemy in getting better mpg with your RV. Also Sprinter chassis and cruise control is not the way to get good MPG. Want better MPG do not the cruise.........slow a little on the up hill, speed up on the down side.
The Sprinter gets twice the fuel economy of my class C Ford chassis v-10 under the same conditions. To be fair the Ford chassis was larger and heavier and the handling was horrible.
The were a few Sprinters with 3.5 gas motors but not common in the US market. Did not think they were sold to Class C RV manufactures. If they were that would be something to avoid.

Winnebago made a few Views and Navions, 2008 models only (not sure of the actual MB chassis year), with the 3.5 liter gas engine. They were, of course, less expensive, but weren't very popular. Those who own them seem reasonably pleased.

The problem is that the 3.5L gas version requires premium fuel, so no savings per gallon vs. diesel. And since the gas version gets considerably fewer MPG then even a lower purchase price didn't equate to much of a bargain, unless you didn't drive it very much. That and dismal sales was probably why the gas version was offered for only a single year.

Just talked to women today that drove here Sprinter Chassis MH coast to coast. She had 6,000 miles on the rig. She averaged for the trip 15MPG. She said a lot of the trip she had head on high winds. Not too bad!
She had the 3.0 D engine.

Best - 16.7 mpg
Worst - 12.5 mpg (20mph headwind headed west across South Dakota)
Avg - 14.5 over 5000 miles

We are thinking about getting a Winnie VIA with the 3.0 diesel but we like to tow our two door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Any opinions as to whether it can pull over Colorado passes with the Jeep behind? I think it weighs just a little under 4,000 pounds.

It seems to me that the biggest concern with diesel is the uncertainty moving forward as various states continue to adopt higher percentages of bio-diesel blends over 5% .....which is the tolerance & warranty limits for the Mercedes. What happens when you can no longer get appropriate fuel for your ride?
