Talking Generator Service Access

2015 Coachmen Prism 2150 LE.

This RV has a LPG Onan generator located under the coach. It can be partially accessed from a coach outside panel, but I see no access for service e.g. oil change, fuel delivery, DC connections for starter motor, prime and start wiring connections.

Anyone know how to access these issues for service? I'd hate to have to rip up the flooring for these

I don't know about your MH, but many are mounted on brackets that can slide out, or the unit might have to be lowered to gain better access for service/repairs . Does your owner's manual mention anything about generator access ?

Talking Solved!

For my 2015 Coachmen Prism 2150 LE:

1. open the coach flipper door to access the generator
2. rotate both black knobs on the front generator panel to the open position
3. pull the top of this panel open an inch or so toward you
4. lift the panel up then lower it to remove it from the coach

Access is now possible for oil add/drain, generator control panel, air filter etc. service

Hope this helps others. Step 4 is critical because the generator panel will not clear the coach enough to gain service access. It must be removed

I got the front off as per above but need to replace the starter motor. Has anyone done it on this model? If I have to remove the generator to access starter do I need to remove LPG hose, electronics, exhaust pipe etc?

Thanks in advance

You need to drop the generator out of the MH. Disconnecting wires, hoses, exhaust, anything connected to the generator. It probably drops straight out the bottom ones brackets are removed. I would be using my auto floor jacks (not the little cheesy ones, but a regular blackhawk or NAPA or similar used by tire stores, which I have two of) with a flat board on top bolted to the jackpad. Same thing I did when I removed the fuel tank from my Winnebago View (twice).

The top cover has to come at least partly off to change the starter, so plan to have to drop it at least part way to do this job. When I had to change the starter on my Onan 4000 a couple of years ago I used a motorcycle jack to lower it, which made the job much easier. A jack similar to https://www.amazon.com/Extreme-Max-5...dp/B0196PAZ1S/
