GPS

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, but we have a 2017 Thor Freedom Elite 39' motorhome and we are looking for an RV gps for it. We would like to know which are the best. We have a regular Garmin GPS and thought one for RVs might be better. Thank you very much.

If you like Garmin they have a couple models designed specifically for RV travellers. The model numbers are RV660LMT and RV770LMT. I'm going not going to suggest what's best because we all have different needs and desires so you'll have to decide that for yourself.

Okay. Thank you very much. Looking for basic GPS with lane changes, best RV routes, etc. don't need backup camera, Bluetooth or any of the bells and whistles.

Take a look at the Garmin Drivesmart 61 NA LMT-S: https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-DriveS...70_&dpSrc=srch
We purchased when it first came out in the Mar / Apr timeframe. Used it for a month long trip and it worked very well and provides all that you are asking for. We looked hard at the 660 and 770, but decided it offered a lot of things we did not need and was more expensive.

We like our Rand McNally better than our Garmin, but it's probably 7 years old, wanted 7 " screen, but 5" came out first.

What type of Rand McNally do you have and why do you like it better than Garmin?

I'm also in the market for MH RV GPS.
Just wondering does the Drivesmart allow entering MH height to avoid height restricted routes?

Vote here for the Garmin 770. Easy to use and set up for our 37' Class C with toad.

Just wondering... how does it get reception with the cab-over?

To answer two questions here: first as to height clearances fir RV's. Here is a link showing all clearances across the USA. I printed out a copy of this and keep it with the MH for reference to trip planning. https://member.coach-net.com/members...BridgeInfo.pdf
And for reception, with the cab overhang - not an issue at all for reception and performance on my Drivesmart 61 NA LMTS by Garmin.
Hope this helps you,

Very rare to see someone rate the rand above the garmin...

tried them both and returned the rand - the RV760 works GREAT and the one I have in the jeep has the backup camera too.

I have a Garmin GPS in each car we own, my motorcycle, RV and in boats for years.
I have always been pleased with Garmin's tech support and warranty.
My current GPS in our RV is a GARMIN 2699 (Costco $219.00).
It has a large 6" screen, very responsive both horizontal and vertical screens.
Garmin also offer an RV specific model, 7" screen, but at a higher cost.
