Heated mirrors

Hello everyone I just ordered a new rig from a factory direct one of the features I had to have was heated remote mirrors I would think a 2015 would come with heated remote mirrors they said the unit did not come with it. and it's a $500 option Its built on a Ford 450 chassis so they get their cab & chassis from Ford they said they would add the option for $500 just wondering hows that done do they change the mirrors or just the wiring and how is the switch put in the cab for the mirrors. Or I hate to say it maybe it comes standard and they want to charge me for it. Your opinion appreciate it thanks.

I can not speak for what Ford is doing. However, many wiring harnesses have the wires in place for options, whether they are used or not. In your case, I suspect the wires were there, they hang new mirrors with heating elements and put a switch in an unused knock out on the dash.

I never had heated mirrors in MN. They had not been invented then.

I have them on this rig and the previous one. Never flipped them on.

Your choice.

Mine came with heated mirrors and I could not understand why anyone would want them on a MH.
I guess that just shows how hard it is to please everyone. One guy will pay anything for an item and the other guy was mad he had to pay for something he doesn't want.

well I'm surprised you never use them being that you live in PA I live in New York and I drive mine in the winter maybe yours is parked in the winter but when it's cold out and your motorhome isn't sitting in your driveway for the winter season they come in handy😉

I thought exactly the same thing as the other posters when I picked up my unit (first C Class) in Arizona a year ago March. Sure enough, a couple of days later when going through the Cascade Mountains in Washington State, it was typical rain/cold and heavy fog. Mirrors became useless in no time, but I happened to remember about the heaters. Wow, instant clear...just all depends where you drive if its worth it.

Wink

Bought our Nexus used and was very pleased to find it came equipped with the heated remote control mirrors which are about a $600 option. If you don't have working, as in crystal clear, mirrors you need to park that Class C until you do. That enormous blind zone can get you or some other innocent driver killed very easily.

If you turn on the heated mirrors in a rain storm, it helps to dry the glass surface and allow you to see what is beside and behind you. When I first started driving a MH I thought the heated mirrors were for those frosty spring and fall mornings. I have never used them to remove frost, but use the heated mirror all of the time to remove rain drops.
